Fly Fishing

Xcalak has long been a favorite destination for fly-fishing. Long before the new paved highway, fishermen made the 3-hour trek from Mahajual just to fish the pristine flats that surround this area. Year round, we catch and release bonefish, tarpon, permit, and more. Our captains are experienced fly-fishing guides and will be happy to take you to the best locations in one of our 25-foot panga boats.

Prices: Half day $175 US, Full Day $275 US. Price includes drinks, snacks, guide, and marine park wrist band fees; but you will need to bring your own fly fishing equipment.

SOME FIGURES TO CONSIDER

• Chetumal Bay is about twice the size of Ascención Bay and it has about a fourth the amount of anglers.

• All our guides were born and raised in these waters, they have an intimate knowledge of the bay and know where to find the fish, unlike most lodges on the coast who have brought in guides from elsewhere.

• Full day trips cost about HALF as much as those out of Sian Ka'an based lodges.
