Whilst certified technical divers can explore much greater depths than recreational divers, there are still limits due to the increased gas narcosis as well as toxic effects of oxygen under pressure at depth. For those wanting to venture even deeper, breathing Trimix becomes a must in order to manage these two effects at depth.

The Tec Trimix 65 course is the first part in becoming a Tec Trimix Diver. The training focuses on advanced decompression theory including the effects of helium as a breathing gas, complex logistics and problem solving at extreme depths, extensive decompression requirements and stress management as well as handling multiple stage cylinders, even more precise trim and buoyancy control and much more.

This course qualifies you to perform stage decompression dives using Trimix with a minimum of 18% oxygen content as a bottom gas to a maximum depth of 65m / 210 ft using two different decompression gases up to pure oxygen for accelerated decompression. Earning a Tec Trimix 65 certification is furthermore a prerequisite to continue training on to becoming a Tec Trimix Diver.

To enroll in the Tec Trimix 65 Diver course you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
  • Be a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent
  • Be a Tec 50 Diver or equivalent
  • Have at least 150 logged dives
  • Have a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
  • Have completed at least one stage decompression dive to 40m / 130ft or deeper within 6 months previous to training

  • If you do not currently have the certifications and dives necessary to start the program please contact us with details of your current level and we can put together a program to meet your needs.

NB: Additional Training: All of our TEC courses are performance based. If additional/remedial training is required beyond the scheduled course duration in order to meet the performance requirements, additional training may be required as follows:
Additional Classroom day (or part thereof): $100.
    Additional diving day (TEC): $200.
Additional diving day (Trimix): $250 + student and instructor gases.

5 Training Days including classroom sessions, confined and open water dives, cylinder rental, air fills for shallow training dives, breathing gases for instructor, certification fees.

    Not included:
Equipment rental, breathing gases for student (O2 and helium calculated based on actual use).

    Required materials:
Tec Trimix Diver Crew Pack - $95.

    Gasses used:
Trimix with min 18% O2, Air, Trimix, EANx and pure oxygen for decompression.
