This
course offers a chance for children ages 8-11 to try out the scuba diving
experience. It includes a brief academic session to familiarize our young
students with the scuba equipment then an hour-long tour of the bay in
water not to exceed 10 feet in depth. See what it's like down there with
the fish--Mom and Dad are welcome to join in with the youngsters!
If you're not sure that
you really want to spend the time and money to become a certified diver,
this course is an excellent way to "test the waters". The Discover course
takes about 4 hours to complete and includes an hour-long academic session,
a practice dive in the bay, and an open water boat dive with your instructor.
Following the course, we will allow you to continue to dive for the duration
of your visit, not to exceed 40 feet in depth. Plus, if you like diving
as much as we think you will, PADI now accepts this course as the first
day of the full Open Water course if completed within one year.
Program
designed for those wanting a relaxed introduction to scuba diving. Course
allows the individual to experience scuba, under direct supervision of
a professional dive instructor, without having to complete a scuba certification
course. Unlike the typical resort course the Passport Diver program enables
the individual to make instructor supervised scuba dives for up to 12
months and dive activities can count toward eventual Scuba Diver certification.
If
you've been dry-docked for a while and your skills are a little rusty,
this is a great course to get you back to your previous level of comfort.
You will do a brief review session of basic skills with your instructor,
a confined water practice, and an open water dive. After the course, divers
tend to get right back into the swing of things and find their open water
diving much more enjoyable-rather than taking two or three days of your
precious vacation time to get the feel of diving again.
The
PADI Scuba Diver program is a pre-entry level certification that is perfect
for vacationers or people who only plan to dive a couple times a year.
As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver program, the PADI Scuba Diver
rating allows you to get certified quickly and easily by minimizing time
constraints. With the PADI Scuba Diver certification you can dive under
the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor
or higher professional on your next vacation or dive trip. This course
requires 3 confined water practices, 2 open water dives, and covers the
first 3 modules of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual.
There are two ways you
can go about becoming certified. The first is to do the complete course
here in the warm waters at Xcalak. The course takes 4 days to complete,
approximately 6 hours a day, and includes all academic modules, confined
water practices, and the 4 required open water instruction dives.
The second way to become
certified is to do a "Referral" course. In this case, you do your academic
modules and confined water practices with an agency near home. Then, you
can come to Xcalak and do your open water check out dives in the clear,
warm Caribbean with one of our instructors.
This
is an excellent course for fine tuning the skills you learned in your
open water course and developing new ones. This course consists of five
dives with your instructor to develop the skills that you think are most
suited to the diving you participate in regularly. The two core dives
are deep diving and navigation-then you can choose from a variety of electives
such as multilevel diving, underwater naturalist, night diver, search
and recover, and many more.
The Rescue Diver course
is designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for individuals
to effectively perform in-water rescues and assisters, manage diving accident
situations, render proper first aid, and qualify for PADI Divemaster training.
This course includes all the academics and skill training requirements--but
we believe the best rescue you will ever perform is the accident you prevented.
We stress self-evaluation, other diver evaluation, and analyzing environmental
conditions before the dive. This course is demanding and realistic in
its content; you will change your diving awareness and become more attentive
to the diving environment.
The Divemaster course is designed to develop the skills & knowledge necessary for an individual to lead certified divers in the open water environment. Upon completion, graduates may assist instructors during diving courses and supervise and conduct dives for certified divers. This course trains candidates to have leadership level knowledge and skill. We offer the basic divemaster course which can be completed in 7 to 10 days, or a deluxe course which includes a 2 to 3 week internship during which you will help your instructor lead dives and work with students. Prerequisites: 18 yr. old, minimum Rescue Diver certification, valid CPR certification, must have a current physical signed by doctor. Price: basic course
$600, deluxe course $950.
Are you interested in more safety or longer bottom time? This course is for recreational divers wishing to use enriched air nitrox (EANx) as a breathing gas. You will learn about the benefits, hazards, equipment, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22% to 40 % oxygen content. This course takes 1 to 2 days to complete and requires 2 dives. Prerequisites: 15 yr. old, OW certification with 10 logged dives or Advanced OW certification. Price: $175 per student.
The
XTC Dive Center offers a variety of specialties and technical courses
on upon request. We can certify you for everything from PADI Wreck Diver,
Deep Diver, or Underwater Naturalist.
You'll learn deep dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards. You'll also put this knowledge to the test as you go on four open water dives that range from 18 - 40 metres / 60 - 130 feet.
During your PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course, you'll learn underwater navigation dive procedures, techniques, planning, organization and potential problems. You'll also be introduced to natural navigation, underwater patterns, distance estimation and further your compass navigation skills. You'll put these into practice during your three open water dives.
During your PADI Equipment
Specialist program, you'll familiarize yourself with the operation and
maintenance of your personal equipment. Your instructor might also provide
the opportunity to review new or unfamiliar dive equipment.
